What is a home sleep study?
- A Home-based sleep study is an ambulatory overnight recording of the brain activity, oxygen level, cardiac activity, body movement and other organ function during sleep for diagnostic and sleep disorder evaluation conducted in the patient’s own home.
- This process is non-invasive and requires several sensors to be placed on the patient’s face and body. A staff member will demonstrate how the sensors are placed and may also guide the patient during the night via phone if required.
Once the sleep study has been completed, the device is then returned to the sleep clinic for analysis and reporting where a sleep clinician will contact the patient to discuss results and any treatment required recommended by our sleep physician.
